Nothing this weekend, not 1 gobble and we are covered up in birds. We went out 4 different times on Saturday, run and gun style, heard nothing. Spent time at dusk Friday and Saturday riding around with owl calls trying to locate them in the cypress heads...nothing. Saw 9 deer, a bunch of hawks and sand hill cranes. It was frustrating but the weather was good, food was great and the basketball tournament kept us entertained.
Sob story for me because I worked all weekend long and the only thing I got was a phone call from my youngest daughter. "Dad, you know that shotgun you won in the raffle. Can I borrow it this weekend to go turkey hunting?" Honey, you mean the stoeger 12 gauge shotgun, that I haven't even shot yet. "Dad, does it have the right choke in it?" Yes, it has a turkey choke in it and you can borrow it but be sure to bring it back.
My bud wanted to fish and I was sawing logs literally sawing logs.
