OK...after Momma got tired of me hanging around inside I hit the shop today.
Bought the lathe to turn pots, and have practiced with grunts and duck call barrels and stoppers.
So today I gave it a shot. Sapele wood. A "musical wood" as Martin, Gibson, Taylor and others build guitars out of it, and Cadillac uses it for the interior wood trim on their Caddies....
Beautiful....turned out great. Gonna be a slate over glass when done.
I tried to do a matching striker, but it exploded when I got it down close to 5/16"...man you need scalpel sharp tools for doing those I've found out.
If it don't sound good..It'll make a heckuva paper weight 🙂
Finished it up...and gluing up a Walnut (slate over glass) precut pot.
