Someone told me that harvested "wild" turkey tastes horrible. They also said it's nothing like store bought. Any truth to this?
Someones feeding you a line of :crap:
its all in the cooking. good cooks can make horse shart taste good. I really can't tell much diff other than a wild one may be leaner and have shot in it. we shot some one day while camping and cooked them over coals from a campfire and they were good, but my old hunting pard was an excellent cook/chef
Never ate one that wasn't delicious....try this some time....rub the whole thing with a coat of good mayonaise.....a little season salt and pepper.. the mayo will cook away but seal it and keep it juicier(this works great for smoking chicken also)...put on a oak fired smoker at about 225 and smoke it until just done....dont want to dry it out.....absolutely delicious ....I like it better than a store bought bird....but thats just me....
i dont like store bought turkey but love to eat wild turkey
