Hello all. I'm new to the site, but it looks pretty interesting so far. I havn't hunted since I was a kid, but now am trying to get back into the swing. I've got a line on a place in Georgia for the fall/winter to go for some nice deer, however I've spent the past 2 summers looking for a place (fairly local) to do some hog hunting. I live in the east Orlando area. I keep hearing how many hogs there are around and how destructive to farmers land they can be, but I can't find a decent place to go hunting without paying a huge amount of money. I wouldn't mind a little drive, but would prefer to stay fairly local if possible. I have the equipment...rifle or bow...just need the place. Would appreciate some direction....thanks
Welcome to the site.
welcome to the forum. Find a farm or property with a hog problem and ask them if they need the hogs rid of.
Welcome to my world. I also live in east orlando and have been doing leg work for a few years. I stop by ranches , farms you name it . I offer to pay and work on the property.I get the same answer. Even though some have a problem , they all have friends of family who will kill the hogs. One guy even told me that he lets these guys come in and trap them and the pay him like $25 a hog. they in turn sell them to one of the hunting preserves for like $50 a hog who charge $200 and up for guys like us to kill them. lets cut out the middle man . Ill pay him $50 to kill em. No dice.
the hard part of finding private property to hunt on is alot to do with insurance, and alot of people have been burned with giving permission and then the people that got permission gives permission to somebody else and it grows from there. garbage left on the property ,so and so forth. My lease in georgia part of my lease payment is for insurance so that I won't go after the land owner if something happens to me.
