The buck quota was met on Sat. So that ment you could only shoot hogs. This is the north side of a creek bottom were it starts to dry up and goes into palmettos. When it rains this area floods and the pigs come out and root the hell out of the whole area. When I got to my stand it was dark still. I had a large hog about 25 feet from the tree my stand was hung on. I tried to see if I could get enough light to see threw the scope but no luck. So I climbed the tree and the pig just kept on rooting away.
I sat there for what seemed like forever waiting for the sun to rise as the sounds dirt and water being tossed around continued. He slowly worked off into the distance over the coarse of a half hour. Just as it was light enough to see this small red sow comes running right towards me and stops in the same spot as the other hog. Their was fresh grass growing over a area that was rooted up not to long ago, and old acorns every were. She milled around eating in front of me for over a half hour probably closer to an hour. I couldn't take it anymore! Knowing in a short time everything was gonna bed back down I decided to put some meat in the cooler.
I waited and waited for her to move out from some small branches so I could have a clear shot. She walked back and forth, back and forth, and then started towards the clearing. I turned my camera on and put it on video move. Raised my 243 Browning lever action and rested it on my camera arm.As she cleared the last twig ( you can see it in the video) I steadied the cross hairs on her neck and BOOM!! The Barnes triple shock bullet did a number on her. And now you know the rest of the story. lol
