Stanky Veg Oil works more as food attract than Wallow
its the stink and their nose
we had frozen unbaked donuts and the freezer place when down
we dumpster dived it then left them in the woods
them things swelled like Melons after a week
the hogs did finally show they ate every bit
including the ground they Swelled up on
I shot 6 off those donuts
Guys don't fight about the motor oil Its a by Product of
Pine forests just happens because of all the machines
Then man caught on as did the hogs
IMHO and only MHO
the small amount you use for the Burlap or small ground
spot the Hogs Benefit from it as they rid them selfs of tics flies and other bugs
so In the end all the oil ends up on them
Also if you look around big Cow Pastures and even Pig farms there is an Oil
Rag set up
for cows you'll see 2 Posts with what looks like a small blanket stretched from one post
too the other that is Oil so the cow can walk through it Like a car wash with the soft touch system
I don't think the WMA's would approve you making one but if its Had Loggers on it
you'll find a wallow just go sit by it
As far as hurting the environment,I think man pretty much killed Florida's natural beauty over 100 years ago.Our woods were murdered,raped,and pillaged.All the ancient cypress heads and oak forests are pretty much gone,over population,encroachment,over development all took it's toll on Fl.Even now when you find a decent stand of pines you can walk thru,there's so much trash in them from the wetback pine straw balers it makes me want to puke.They just leave empty soda cans and food wrappers wherever they use them. Like T.C Tom said a little oile benefits hogs,they roll in it and it makes them feel good,keeps the bugs down a bit. In there miserable existance that may be one small bright spot.Like an occaisional beer bottle,don't you think that would make some spiders day during a rain storm?
let me apologise if I overreacted and let my hog hunting naivety show thru. I just believe if you packed it in,pack it back out, and nobody should be able to tell you were ever there. now TC how is motor oil a by product of pine forrests? you mean like decaying underground for millions of years? I'm sure the oil soaked rags work ( not debating that ) it's just that I'm trying to go strictly by the book for now, especialy while on a wma.

It not a By like you think it is from the heavy Machines they use to cut Till Row and plant
The oil is there because its dropped Leaking or from an over fill
But its there I've never seen a Planted Pine wood Forest without oil wallow its amaze me that animals
Not trained Just instinctively go too these Just like a deer to a natural Lic
But there is a natural Turpentine on some Pines and the pigs rub certain pines so maybe they know more that us
After spending time in the woods infact evertime for me you'll see /learn different things animals do and use to get by
Then Shoot them SOB's they eat good LOL
