that's right it was yours truly. got to my ladder stand early, hung my pack on the pull up rope and went the 150 yd's to put out the black gold by my feeder which sits near the edge of a drainage ditch/canal. been wanting to find a way to the other side for some time. the moon was bright, skies starry and plenty of time before light, so I figure I'll do a little scouting. found a way across easy enough, checked things out awhile and soon the moon goes down and the sky gets cloudy and dark. can't find the way I had come and wanted to get back to my stand before light, it's only 200 yds with 20 yds of 2-3" water (or so I thought) besides I had my knee high rubber boots. well first step up to calf second step over boot tops and rising, figured I'm already wet and it's not too cold so keep going it's not far. by the time I got across the 20 yds a good 30 minutes the only thing dry was my headband. rifle/pistol/cell phone submerged, neck deep, black stinking sucking mud. even my TP in a zip lock was wet. props to the butler creek scope covers they stayed shut and kept the scope clean/dry. I never load the chamber until it's light so used the rifle as a crutch with my thumb over the bbl ( both scope and bbl dry/clean). thank God for that strong safariland retention thigh holster or I'm sure I would have lost the 45. made it back to my treestand just before light, got in took off boots poured out water, got naked wrung out clothes and hung to dry, took the clean headband bandanna and cleaned the black mud out of the 45 and rifle, hand sanitizer bath, then a reg morning hunt except I WAS BUCK NAKED! if you ever want to hunt nude a couple things that were real handy were #1 bug spray and 2 a thermos of hot coffee. any tips on drying out a cell phone? right now it's apart wrapped in paper towels and covered in salt. guess I got my FL Baptism. got home a tired soggybottom boy and the truck stank.

yeah, I sometimes get a visit there from a woman on horseback, glad she wasn't there today, would have had a lot of splainin to do. good day for it though. the extra insulation I carry didn't hurt. those quick dry fabrics really came in handy. by 10:30 most everything was 75% dry. scopewatch didn't make it, guess there not designed to be submersible, lol.

regarding the phone, my daughter has had slider fall into the toilet twice (don't ask), keeps putting it in her back d**m pocket. I have taken the battery out and let it sit for a week trying to get it into some sunlight from a window, both times it has started right back up.

no reports of the great white yetti in the news yet, I guess you are in the clear, I bet cleaning the pistol and rifle back up was a pain in the azz.....
