I was wondering if I would learn more about hog hunting if maybe I would go hunting with a Pro Outfitter. The Osceola Outfitters (Kemper’s) is really not that far from me. Maybe if I asked enough questions and paid close attention to the Pro Hunter I would learn enough to try it on my own. (Remember I have NEVER Hog Hunted before)
I have read a lot of your stories here on this forum and all of you seem to have a lot of fun and enjoy the art of Hog Hunting.
Then I stop and wonder if I am making this harder than it really is.

that is not necessary, then again i am not the great white hunter. i find hogs to be much easier than deer. where do you plan on hunting this fall?

I was thinking about the Three Lakes WMA in Osceola County. I have done some scouting there and found places that the hogs have done some routing.

i have not been to 3 lakes. i hunt green swamp, upper hillsborough, myakka, richloam, i have a few good spots for hogs, and i have a quota hog hunt for lake marion creek near davenport, polk county in dec. just keep poking around those rooted areas. loook for a trail they are using to get to the rooted areas and follow it, somewhere along the trail you should find some trees with mud caked on at the base of the trunk, from a few inches up to waste high. when you find fresh pig shit you know they are close, and keep pushing once you think you are close. you never know when one might pop out of the bushes.

I would think of it like this. real simple. I you were to take me and put me in a different environment than I am used to being in I would learn faster by some one showing me what to do than figuring it out on my own. Yes I can figure it out on my own but if I am going musky fishing up north then I would like to go with some one that knows what they are doing, because I don't. I tell every one I can the best way to understand what you want to kill is to be around them as often as you can. Go some where and observe them with out killing them and learn there characteristics, see how they act and what they do.
