Well, I wasn't even going to come up here this weekend. Didn't realize he had a 4 day weekend. At the last minute, we decided to all come up as a family. Got jr early from school on Friday and soon as we got here he wanted to go hunting. I pulled my skiff to mostly trout fish, but I did pack his shotgun in case he twisted my arm.

Realizing momma forgot to pack his boots, i threw the sled in the truck because I knew what was coming. I pulled him thru the wet areas, and made him walk the dry spots (which were few and far between)

We made the 500 yard walk in, and the woods in front of our 2-man stand was flooded, and a bit far for his shotgun to the feeder. We opted to sit the ground blind, which is very close to the feeder. Too close really.

We got settled in at 4. It was dead until the feeder went off at 4:45. At 5, the squirrels started coming out. I was watching them and scheming in my mind, that if they all got in line, he could get 7 in one shot. At 5:15 they were about lined up and I started getting a bird shot out of my pocket. All of a sudden they all took off. Before I could even think, the ground looked like a hog pen. There was a t least 15 of them
I went to turn on my gopro cam, but realized as soon as I did I forgot to put the SD card back in it. Oh well. I made him get his ear muffs on and passed the shotgun to him. He is used to me helping him hold the gun...i said "kill it by yourself". I did help him kep the gun on his shoulder but he did it all. There was so many of them, I don't know how he didn't kill about 4 of them(which, for my sake, I am glad he didn't). The hog hit the dirt, the gun kicked the sh** out of him. we had some high 5's and made the trek out. Luckily we already had the sled there and I didn't have to go get it.

About 1/2 way to the truck, he asked if he could get off the stinky hog and "just walk in the water"...I said "GLADLY"..lmao

Could not be more proud of this boy. 2 gobblers and 2 hogs under his belt now at the age of 9. A deer is next on our bucket list, but he likes shooting hogs as much as I do.

I love it!! Good stuff, reminds me of some mighty good times about 25 or 30 years ago. Congratulations to Jr on his 2nd squealer :clap !! A story with pictures makes it real!
