will work just fine. Its the military ball ammo that will get you in trouble.you can get sp bullets for 7.62X39

I thought you couldn't use FMJ for deer only. I thought it was cool to use for anything else? I literally just got back from Gander Mountain and got a box of SP 7.62x39mm. It cost 24.99 (Federal)they had another box for 29.99 (Winchester) both boxes of 20. I have noticed all hunting rounds are expensive at least compared to the surplus stuff I love buying (since its cheap and shoots great most of the time).

I don't think it matters on private land what you shoot hogs with, only on public land.

I have dropped quite a few with a .44 Mag carbine with 265 Grain Hollow Points at close range, ie. inside 60 yards and they don't go far if shot in the right spot....

that is a heck of a big bullet O.o.... lol

if anyone here needs some soft point 7.62x39, and you live in the tampa bay area, I have about 10 boxes i can let go. I've used the surplus HP in my AK, and it doesn't expand nearly as good as the SP.

The 240 Grain .44 Mag fly alot further than the 265, 275, 280 and 300 grain bullets do. I have tried them all. I personally like the 225, 240 and 265 grain bullets the best, but you best sight her in and readjust your optics if changing bullet weight especially with the short barrel carbine guns. The heavier the bullet with the .44 mag carbine the less range and FPS you have. They drop like a stones with the 280 and 300 grainers...
