I always used solids on hogs because if you're off just a little, that hp will disintegrate against the templar bone of the skull, but right behind the ear it does a great job on them. The solids bust on through and deliver a deadly blow from most angles behind the head.
Even with the .270 or whatever caliber a feller's firing, I always reccommend a head/neck shot. I hate to see meat wasted! Each evening, there's eight pair of knees under our table and I can't afford to lose any shoulder meat. It makes excellent pulled pork sammiches!
Well i haven't ever got a Hog so I'm game when your ready let me know
Well, all the hogs were a no-show today. Didn't see a single one. I kinda agree about the 22 mag, but that big feller's all of 250# if not more. Last time I saw him was about 3 months ago, and he was easily 5' long from nose to ars. He looks like a big water heater with legs, ears, teeth, and hair. I know for certain that the 270 right behind his ear will make him take the long dirt nap.
I'll get something going soon.Just need some time to work it all out.
