If my dogs actually do anything for me next week in Green Swamp West, I might be able to bring my retards up there for a day or two. Does the guest permit allow for one or two guests?
get in there and hunt without dogs. Just cause it's a dog hunt doesn't mean you HAVE to hunt with dogs. It just means you CAN hunt with dogs (and most will be).
Like mentioned, would you be OK with someone bringing their dogs on a still hunt? Us dog hunters aren't afforded many opportunities as is, no need to take from what little we are offered. I know Ironcat didn't do it on purpose, but I see this train of thought a lot.
uh yeah, as if still hunters disturb a dog hunt in any way. What's the matter? You think someone sitting in a treestand is going to mess up your dog hunt? Lol....right.
1. I understand that it's both possible and permitted to still hunt during a dog hunt but with no area knowledge and me ground hunting since I cant afford a tree stand, I think my chances of success would decline dramatically.
2. The permit allows for me + 2 guests but only one firearm per party. I have spoken to Trina at the FWC district office who confirmed that CCW holders are still permitted to carry.
ah, gotcha.
Clarification for the touchy dog hunters: A ground/spot/stalk hunting could mess up a dog hunt, so I don't recommend that. Only a still hunt in a stand.
My point was that we are offered very few opportunities to dog hunt public land, not that I'm worried about someone messing up the dog hunt. There are TONS of still hunting permits to be had....not so with dog hunts.
