yeah HB I'm not overwhelmed by buckshot, IMO it's too light and too soft to get good bone crushing penetration, plus too large a pattern and risk of gutshot. after both you and scott each hit hogs with buckshot and it didn't put them down made me re-think ammo choice. the alloy of lead/tin and antimony used in the triballs make them much harder than the soft lead used in buckshot and most reg slugs. I say whatever your gun holds load it fully, what do you have to lose, you wouldn't load 3 rounds in a 6 shot revolver unless you were Barney Phife.
NG, I take what my gun carries, 4+1 (Or 3 in a shotgun and 3 in my pocket) and a side arm, figure if I missed all those or it did not kill what I was hunting I should not have been there. It is not like I have to go to town for more ammo, it is right there in the truck but I don't take 10 boxes of .308 in the field, only one...lol
allright guys, if you have a car gimme a freakin brake. all I want to do is put the full box of 5 shells in my gun without a couple extras to lug around and eventualy lose and weigh my pants down and the box gets all bent up and what not. I admit to being a little ocd about my guns and gear but who isn't to some degree. I doubt I'll ever need more than 2- maybe 3 shots at most, so I won't be needing the 50 drum or saiga mags thank you very much for the sugestions though. from now on if I want your opinions I'll tell them to you, lol. ya' got it out of your systems yet? it's been a real laugh riot.
Have you thought about tying the other 2 rounds on your stock with a rubber band? That way maybe your pants will not fall down reaching for them.
2 words Duct Tape. Cheap. Even comes in camo. 🙂
