Wow, that means 24/7 hunting for them if you can hunt on Sundays. It sure sounds like you can have a lot of fun hunting 12 months a year if you can find private land. I hear hogs are a real pain in the butt and can destroy a lot of property.
Yes they can. They are mostly a pain to ranchers(they destroy cattle grazing land and eat cattle feed), and forestry(they destroy pine saplings). On public land, they are coveted and sought after. The water management districts hate them and don't want any on their lands, and hire trappers and remove hundreds a year. Florida allowed them legal during small game seasons just about state wide and it has kept the numbers in check, and decimated them in places. The media has made the "epidemic" worse than it really is. They are almost extinct in S. Fla due to the stupid panthers. They are great table fare, and quite honestly I would just as well have pork as I had venison. My wife won't eat store bought pork. The rumors you might have heard about hogs being worthless to eat are just piss poor cleaning and meat handling(no pun intended). I've killed well over 300 in my life and can only remember a couple that were rank tasting. A rutting buck deer is horrible to eat, in my opinion.
Amen to the fact any game not properly prepared will be rank. Yeah, I heard the meat is really good and like you say vension from a rutting buck can be pretty gamey even if prepared properly. I would love to try some wild hog but we don't have any here.
