Cant you just throw your arrows at them 😆 😆
Go to ask FWC.com and ask. I don't think they allow spears on WMA's. But ask and post the answer. I'd love to go do some spearing!!! Heck I was close enough to 7 of them today for an old school spearing. lol
what about those guys who use swords to kill a hog that is held up with dogs?
Private land, you can do as you please.
hunt with a charles bronson robe?
Well the reason I asked this question was two fold. First, in the unlikely event that a hog does charge me, would I be ok killing it with my concealed carry firearm, or other means like the boar spear.
Yes I would opt for the firearm everytime, and would likely go in that direction when the chips go down.
the second part is I am doing a PRIMITIVE HUNT, and trying to recreate a 13-14th century hunt. Where all participants would be dressed in Medieval clothing, wielding primitive weapons, aka longbow and arrows, and boar spears. I belong to a worldwide-group of Medieval reenactors, and researchers, call the SCA (the Society for Creative Anacronism www.sca.org ). This group of researchers trys to recreate the "GOOD" parts of pre 1600's life, based on historic writting, findings, and archiolgical research. We are not Rennies, or Ren-fair folks. We actually learn, and teach these lost arts. My skill is that I make wooden bows as a bowyer would have done in medival times, I love to shoot archery with these primitive weapons, and love hunting, so some of my friends asked if we could do a "Primitive" hunt, and said sure why not. BUt in accordance with Florida LAws. So I wanted to be sure about this.
I HAVE Sent an email to ASk FWC but am waiting on the response now.
There would be a few of us hunting in a group, slow-walk/stalking for piggies, and someone posed the question about carrying a boar spear for "Back-Up" This would likely be someone not skilled enough with a bow to hunt with it. But still wanted to participate in the hunt.
I know of a guide that has "PRIVATE" land and allows taking of pigs with swords, spears, etc, but as another member posted it is Private Land! You couldnt get away with it on a WMA. I am sure the spear would not be allowed, but was wondering how the FWC sees this weapon. Again it wouldnt be used as a primary kill weapon, only the archers would be allowed to shoot at the hog, and the Spearmen would only be Back-up protection. And not to mention ad to the ambiance of the hunt in general.
We may just go with the guide, but its a tad expensive for us as a group.
