I'll be the first to admit I don't know shart from shinola about hogs, just passing along the "tribal way" that was told to me. and yes if something is dead the heart and blood flow stop, but cellular activity will continue for some time. maybe the hormones just dissapate or go by osmosis/diffusion from one place to another, I DON'T KNOW, good question for a vet or a hog farmer. I've heard cut em off immediately/after 30 minutes/ never, or hang them from Crocks rear view mirror. typical hunting type answers depends on who you ask. could flip a coin , rock/paper scissors. I've only got one sow and she didn't have any to deal with.

As soon as it is dead the blood will start to settle down to the lowest part of the body. Trust me I know.

again just my opinion/observation, but when an animal is in fight or flight mode thats when the adrenalin and hormones are realy being pumped out. if it is killed instantly one shot, before it ever knew it was being hunted (thats what I call a hunting hole in one), no adrenalin/hormones and they taste better. thats one reason I prefer to kill from ambush/treestand. I have shot some deer on the run and stalked others and even walked right up on 3 different bucks deep in the rut standing over does in heat and let them have it point blank, didn't feel too sporting but I did it, they would have rather died than lost their place in line. thats some powerfull P'y power.
