The older I have gotten, I make sure I always go with someone. At my lease, If Huntingfool isn't up there with me I always take a guest. There are too many things that can happen, and my son and wife depend on me.

One thing I always did when I hunted public land; I would get the GPS coordinates of where I was hunting and text them to my wife. She knew not to worry about what they meant unless she did not hear from me 1 hour after dark. If she didn't then she was to call the FWC and give them those #'s

Thank God she never had to use our system. She did get worried a couple years ago when she didnt hear from me. I was trying to get a big hog out and left the phone in the truck. She was gettin ready to call

I don't count on any one else to go with me either. If I had to have someone show up every time then I wouldn't have gone 3/4's of the time. I started sending my GPS #'s also to a buddy of mine and to the misses. With my I phone I can send a snap shot of google earth that shows exactly where I'm at with the coordinates. If I move I resend them again. What you should do is google earth the place you want to check out and head out there with or without your buddies. Make sure you have a GPS with you and go. I enjoy hunting by myself as much if not more than going with a buddy. I don't go out by myself for days at a time but for a 1 day trip to the glades I could care less if anyone else goes with me. Now if this guy got 5 hogs in 2 days out of the cypress then he is the man. I haven't seen any sign of a hog where I go in 4 years. Panthers got them all I think. See if he'll give you a heads up on the area he goes to and strap on your boots. Good luck. :2guns

Sure isn't Bear Island area. Hogs are very rare to come across (like one or two a year get killed). One way to find out get to walking. Good luck!
