I was looking at some Hornady Super performance 75gr BTHP rounds at Dick's sporting good. What do you guys think of this ammo?

I don't really like HP rounds personally because it seems they literally explode inside the hogs body and leaving shrapnels everywhere...

Send kemster a pm, he shoots A LOT of hogs with his AR. I think he is shooting something like 62gr bullet. Can't remember exactly what it was.

sorry for the confusion. what i mean is pigs are tuff critters and using a .22 caliber bullet is on the small side of the equation. under IDEAL conditions and skilled hands pigs can be killed with small caliber bullets. just not highly recomended. as hunters we strive for quick kills and with small caliber rounds this usually means a head shot. remember rounds must retain enough energy to get the job done and the .223 energy drops quickly. if i remember the Elmer Kieth standard was 1000 ft lbs of energy at point of impact not at the muzzle. not very many times do we get the ideal head shot in the field and yes i know there are exceptions. not trying to talk anyone out of anything just contributing to the discussion.
