Got in my stand at 1:45 yesterday afternoon. Was in the stand barely long enough to get the seat warm and heard water sloshing in the sawgrass pond in front of me. Ive got a feeder on the other side of that pond but it is flooded underneath it. Picked up the bino's just in time to see a "dark" shape move by, hoping it wasn't my bear again(that is another story). I had the wind right in my face and was not worried about it spooking.
About 10 minutes went by and I heard sticks breaking in front of me along the edge of the thicket. This time I saw a curly tail on the end of the dark shadow and knew I had a piggie on his way to my corn pile. A minute later one stepped out in the end of the pine row and started feeding. I didn't have a clear shot so I just held tight. I then realized there were two of them. I waited for them to get clear so I could see if one was a sow.
When I saw they were both boars, I put the crosshairs behind the closest ones ear and pulled the trigger. He dropped like a sack of taters. Second hog walks over and looks at his buddy kicking on the ground and starts feeding right next to him. I had no intentions of shooting both, but he left me no choice.
Crosshairs behind his ear and he went down like a sack of taters too. Sat there for a minute and admired my carnage, watching them flop on the ground. Hog #2 decides he wants to try to run off, but his spine was detached from his head so he couldn't really work it out too well. I climbed down real quick out of my ladder stand. He had managed to make it about 10 feet, was flopping around pretty good, so I gave him a 9mm to the ear for good measure
Then took my crap to the truck(my partner had my damn 4 wheeler). Went back in and tried to drag one of them and got him about 15 feet adn was out of gas. Got on the 2-way and said get my 4-wheeler over here(payback for getting me off my couch the other night to help him drag)
HE got to me in a few minutes, tied a rope to them, and off he went to camp draggin my hogs behind him. Had them skinned and in the coolers by 4Pm

good times. :toast We was two skinnin fools.. lol
Make that boy earn his keep. 😆
Nothing like a successful trip to the woods. Sounds like the slow start has picked up. Congrats!!! :toast
Looks like some good eating, congrats. it is amazing how hard it is to kill a hog, they just don't want to stop kicking.
