anyone crossbow hunt gators?lookin to get my crossbow set up for this.goin to the archery shop tommorrow if i get off work in time.talked to one of the shop guys on the phone today and he said the reels come with 600lb test or 250lb.more line length with 250lb test but i don't really know what is needed.also do you have to have a permit to take gators off private property with permission?
You still have to have a permit even on private land, unless you are a lisc trapper and removing problem gators through the state. My buddy has his xbow set up for gators and he uses an attached float and a homemade line dispenser. You don't want your xbow tied onto your arrow if you stick a good one, with the float you can drop it into the water and follow if neccessary.
