Things sure have been slow here on FOHAF for the last few weeks! I know some of y'all must still be in the woods.
I've got a pretty fair excuse for not doing much lately 'cause I'm gettin' old and my PC is out of commission and I have to use Miss Joy's laptop to read and post. I have no idea about how to load my game camera pictures on this device so I'm waitin' till old reliable gets a new hard drive. I bought a windows 10 PC and gave up on it a week or so later, we didn't speak the same language. One computer whiz told me, "For what you do on the computer, just fix the old windows 7 and be happy". That made sense to me!
Today is the 1st day of M/L for a week in zone D. Maybe I'll feel like trying it this afternoon. North of I-10 you can kill a doe with a M/L, but south side it's bucks only.
My doctor that did my knee and hip is referring me to a arthritis doctor because of the sciatica issues I'm enjoying. It's really strange to know I could be in the woods right now, but just don't feel like it.
Hope some of y'all will crank up the forum with some more tales of your hunts, they are always interesting and informative.
Have a good day!

Farmer, Things have been slow with the group and I have noticed also. Some long timers have just disappeared and don't hear anything from them any more. I don't know what's going on with that, but on another note I've had hard times with the dashboard. I can't load pictures with my computer and have to add them with the phone. I haven't been in the woods in 3 weeks due to several other issues. It is about time to make a batch of summer sausage or 2.

Bossman,
Somehow I'm still guilty of thinkin' I should be able to do the things I did when I graduated from Parris Island over 50 years ago. As this old body wears out, I'm reminded of a number found in the scriptures, 3 score and 10, I'm almost there :crip .
My battle with technology is a losing one, kinda' like I don't really care anything for tactical knives or black rifles but everyone else loves 'em. I even feel funny carrin' a polymer framed pistol instead of a steel pistol or revolver. Don't get me started on trucks and all the mess they are required to have on them. Computers have become a necessary evil in our lives and I don't like the constant change that seems to accompany them. My old 700 '06, made in the early 60's still shoots true, why can't we keep the tried and true?
The Lord willing, I'll be able to be back in the woods in a little while.
We thawed out some meat the week before Thanksgiving and made a 30 pound recipe of High Mountain summer sausage, and had about 12 pounds over of thawed pork and venison. Turned it into 60/40 bulk seasoned with Leggs seasoning.
I hope you and the rest of the regular crew get back in the woods and on the forum with some more good posts this season!

i am here and getting ready for muzzle 0n 18-20
Hey y'all. I'm around but just have been really busy lately. Everything kind of goes into overdrive during the holidays with the church folks. I did have an opportunity to head up your way Treefarmer and hunt in October. Went up to shoot a few doe with my crossbow. Man I saw a bunch but they all had nursing fawns and I couldn't do it. Just thought it wouldn't be a good idea to kill Bambie's mom while he was still nursing. I'm planning on heading up that way at the end of January though to see if I can kill a buck in the rut. Here's a photo from the tree stand on my October hunt:
