Crock is referring to the campground right there by the boat ramp at Chazz. I have stayed there a few times and it is not that bad. The worst I saw there was some drunks getting loud and smoking weed. The only problems are the camp sites are very narrow so it is not a place to go to get away from everyone
yea in the river part there was drinking and boating and lots of people, but I think know what your talking about now...there was sites along the river but no one was camping in them
hmm.. so there are cabins close to chazz wma? i might be interested.. i think this year tent camping might be a no no.. i want a break.
Chazz River is great place to catch blue crabs. Crock can tell you where to catch other kinds of crabs!
We used to drive over from Lakeland, rent a couple of john boats there at the ramp, and then go down river a bit to where it gets real wide and there's grass bottom everywhere. Tie part of a mullet or a checken neck on a string, sling out toward a sandy spot in the grass, then wait for the crabs to come out and grab the bait. Pull them slowly to the boat and dip net them. We kept 14 dozen big ones one day with 6 people in 2 boats.
It is a beautiful river, and I plan to go up there again soon.
