The last thing I want is another bad 1. I'm an electrical contractor and could use the business but after Andrew coming thru Homestead in 92 I wouldn't wish that on anyone. My home was completely destroyed. I watched from 5' away as tornados sucked out all of my furniture, stove, fridge and who knows what else. The grass in my yard was GONE. A family friend lost there 12 year old daughter when a 2 x 4 came through the house and decapitated her in front of the entire family while they were hiding in a bedroom. When I was able to get out of my home it looked like an atomic bomb had gone off. Not to mention the months without power staying at my business partners house. You never realize how little the things that you accumulate are until all of a sudden you are left with only the clothes on your back. Even after all that I won't leave for a storm due to my business and all of the looting that went on right after a storm but you can bet my family will be heading north to wait and see. It was like the wild west with no police or anyone to help. You were on your own for the first month or so. Sorry about the long winded story but I haven't seen the weather in days and when I saw that projected track it all came back real quick. Doug

Yea,I know what you mean.We were hit a few years ago 3 times in 6 weeks. They wernt as bad as Andrew but being without power for weeks I can imagine. It started to get wild west around here.people jacking generators, gas, food.Sme even pulled guns on the power crews to make them turn on there power even though they couldnt until power liner were repaired.I still get flashbacks when they say one is headed here.

Having lived in Broward County when Andrew went through and living here the last few years I can tell you one thing.

The "wild west" you talk about here in '04 was nothing compared to how many areas in the Homestead area were after Andrew.
I only went to Homestead a few times after Andrew hit and it was a war zone. If you had water, you expected to get beaten and the water taken from you. There were no supplies brought in after Andrew like there is nowadays. It seems that Andrew was the storm where the government said "Oh crap, we have to fix the way we handle this."

I'm not saying this area wasn't without power and short on supplies but extra supplies and help was brought in a lot sooner than previous storms, especially Andrew.

Andrew was a much stronger storm than they thought it was going to be. The supplies were just not prepared and ready to be brought in for the ones that did not have the appropriate supplies. Many people thought Andrew was going to hit the Port Everglades area and it turned a bit to the south within a few hours of landfall. To be honest, I am glad it did since it would have hit us directly and we were not prepared either for a storm that strong. Selfish I know, but it was just nasty down there afterwards.

Anyway, I think we need to keep an eye on both of these. There is a good possibility that they will follow each other.
Ana might hit somewhere in Florida and Bill might follow a couple days later. The area hit will still have a lot of debris from Ana when Bill hits further intesifying the damage.
Just my $.02
