I know of some cameras that make that resolution seem, well, WAY out-dated. But they "don't really exist".
And those fellers on the roof line of the capital bldg ain't snipers. They are secret service "watchers". You won't see a real sniper. Those guys are just there with the cameras and to act as quick response types. "There he is...in the crowd...blue jacket..." Anyways, snipers would be stationed across the street and on/in surrounding bldgs at vantage points where they can see wide focus areas. The watchers just tell em where to look.
Good eyes, but they all look like civies. Plus, bad angle on the forum from there too. Where they hold the inaug, there is no direct LOS from a hi reach position. The roof of the bldg behind the train station (glass roof bldg at 2 o'clock from the primary media tower) is the best vantage point to grab any inbound/outbound bad guy (or stop and congratulate him/her depending on your point of view).
There's quite a few folks sitting in the back , SOUND asleep, must have been real exciting
