The flu is out and about figured I would give everyone a heads up. I have never had it before and thought I was having caffine withdraws today (stopped drinking it yesterday morning). I decided I would take my temperature and it said 102F. Too bad it wasn't 103 then I could que the Foreigner song :eek . Anyway figured I would go to Centra Care to get some meds. My symptoms caught me off gaurd, I am lightheaded all the time, headaches, and joint pains. No sore throat, runny nose, coughing or congestion (yet). I'm bored so I thought this might kill time typing this.

I recommend everyone get a flu shot. I used to work in an office w/90 people and got the flu every year. I get the flu shot every year about October and haven't had flu since

flu shots are made up of a "dead strain" of the bug so your body can develop antibodies against it and usually are different year to year. DR's some years refuse to get it and insist on it on others as each strain can vary in effectiveness year to year. some hospitals are now making it mandatory for ALL employees to get it or have to wear a mask or have no pt contact. I haven't had a shot in 7-8 years and haven't had the flu. (probably just jinxed myself) my best advice is keep your immune system up as possible stay well rested, hydrated and low stress to avoid being vulnerable and catching it. it's out there all around us and you will be exposed to it, whether you get it or not depends on your immune system. frequent hand washing and being aware of what you touch (magazines in dr's offices, door knobs, phones, hand rails etc), then NOT touching those dirty hands to your face/mouth/eyes/nose are key. good luck
