so my grandfathers pool does not seem to be filtering any longer. there is plenty of flow the chemicals are good, i backwash regularly. The pool was built in 1974, it is 35,000 gallons. they dont build em like they used to. i changed the pump out about a year ago, and the pool still has the original sand filter. knowing my grandfathers laxadaisical? maintenance it has never been properly serviced. I believe that if i changed the gravel and sand out it would work properly again. it is an old triton permanent media water filter model#tr100 serial # tr100-5836. it has 4.9 sq ft of filter area and i have been trying to find info online, but that is almost all for new filters. the only info i did find told me that it needs 150lbs of pea gravel, and 450lbs of sand. does anyone have any experience or knowledge of these old filters?
