I moved into a supervisory role a few years back. I have been in my trade for close to 20 years and know all the tricks, gimmicks and games that can be played. I had overwhelming support from my peers when I received the promotion, still do for the most part. In my first year we let 7 or 8 guys go. One of them still haunts my dreams, its never easy. That being said, they all did it to themselves. I tried to warn them, tried to give them advice on how to avoid it but in the end they did what they wanted and paid the price. I took no joy in doing what had to be done. Some of these guys I started in the trade with, I knew their wives, kids, even their some of their parents. On most all I could think of was how was their kids going to eat, go on field trips, etc..
My trade, most guys just disappear on their own! Easy for me!
