ok silly question I have heard of restaurants serving stingray as scallops. Is that true. Can you eat stingray? I only ask because when I was out this morning I saw some movement and thought it was a school of mullet but it was really a school of sting ray. Has anyone ever eaten it?

Stingray being sold as scallops is a one of the oldest urban legends ever.
The texture of the two meats are not even close to being the same.
I have eaten stingray before. It is ok, but not worth the hassle of trying to skin it. Not to say it hasn't happened, but if you have ever eaten a scallop before, you would know the difference

Somebody posted on here a few months ago about catching a ray and trying to make "scallops". You could see by the pictures posted that stingray ain't no scallop substitute!
