You need to get a gear puller, apply heat to pitman arm with torch if needed. The steering gear is splined not tapered a pickle fork wont do you much good.

A pickle fork when used properly will work taper or no taper. The gear puller is also a good method. Make sure to use penetrating oil like pb blaster. If this is not working use heat on the pitman arm. All methods mentioned sound like they should work. Sometimes this part of the truck is just a big pain. When all else fails get the air hammer.

You cant get a puller on it where it connects to the box while still on truck. Where it connects to the centerlink it has a greese nipple and dont think one will fit there either.
