thats the first time i have heard that a brown recluse does not live in florida. i wanted to call bull :crap: but i looked around first, what i found was they are not commonly found in florida, most commonly found in midwestern states. the brown recluse does live in florida, mostly in the panhandle. the recluse that resides in florida is the chilean recluse that is also believe to be the one with the nastiest bite. the largest concentration of chilean recluse spiders is found in polk county according to one website. my dad was bit by a spider about 15 years ago and the doc said it was a brown recluse, i guess chances are he was wrong. learn somethin new everyday.

We definitlely have some type of recluse spider here in Polk County.
I have seen the little egg sacks plenty of times. They look like little ping pong balls with spikes but are smaller than a dime in diameter.

I have seen them around the house but never have seen the spider itself. Never looked for them either. Maybe I will head outside and try and find one and get a pic of the egg and or spider..
I believe they are nocturnal??
