Does any one have any experence dealing with them? My wifes nephew just turned 18 and his mother has been wasting his ssi money for ever. Well he moved out and is staying with us and making my wife is payee. Anyway we are lost on the paper work, we dont want to make a mistake and cost him money or delay him getting it(he needs it to get a place).
he is disabled. Mentally he is maybe 12. He goes to a special school. When he lived with his mother he did odd jobs around his neighbor hood to buy hiself food. I will give him credit he may not be able to do elementry school work but the kid knows cars.
Did he do transfer of residence before the move? That can slow things down a bit if not done in a timely manner also the mother can do what she wants with the money and that is a sad thing people do.All she would need to say is that she spent it on food, clothes and any needs he had while living with her! There are several factors that are out there and each has its own little clause you do need to check the ssa.gov site it will give you many such needed tips, good luck. http://ssa.gov/pgm/ssi.htm
thanks. He moved quickly. but we took him to ss office and did the move.
great deal it does cause problems and if you are a male and disabled they seem to say oh well glad it worked out good.
