He died right before bow season in 02. I made it to the woods for opening weekend but it was tough.I could fill this forum up with stories. That guy killed more buck deer than most men I've met, usually got one at the end of season. I think that's why I'm kinda standoffish meeting new friends anymore. Before he died we had a crew of boys that showed up to camp, sometimes twenty head. Now just a few if I'm lucky. Don't mean to bother you all with this, but I get this way every year at this time and it helps me feel a little better talking about it.

There was this old man that hunted with us back in the Lafayette hunt club days. He was the father of one of the guys. Well he got very old and was in a nursing home. His last dying wish was to go back to the hunt camp and have a poker game with every one there. Well we made it happen. I bow hunted that morning and went over to the camp in the springs and they were already playing.
We sat there and played cards till noon on Sunday. Never stopped. We had to help the old man up several times and change his piss bag and crap bag, but he hung the whole time. I cleaned house playing cards, got on a hot streak and just about cleaned everyone out.
Well they took the old man home to the nursing home on Monday. All he talked about was that young feller and how good a poker player he was :pimp:
He died on Tuesday with a smile on his face.
That is one of my best memories that I will always cherish
