stole this thread from another forum. swamp guys pullig a "800 lb" gator easily into the boat with his left hand? I have a harder time with a bag of dogfood. ever notice how rusty some of those guns are? salt/brackish water is about the worst for any gun and these are tools they use to earn a living?, not even a rag dipped in motor oil to wipe em down once in a while. over reving motors whin stuck in mud and slamming boats into floats and such, like they could afford a new boat or motor the next day. I think they'd take better care of their tools. Moutain men: useless in N.C. gives his whipping boy his own gun to sight in with 3 rounds? and the guns change with each scene. Useless muffs a shot on a white tail and it's a "misfire", sounded like it went off to me and they found blood (an ancient cherokee hunting method) LOL. again the whipping boys fault. the Mt man out west looking for his overdue buddy in "dangerous grzzly country" with an o/u bird gun. a lot of actors and crew are gun nuts like us. do they really think nobody's gonna notice. they are too busy trying to rake in the money while it's still relevant, which won't be long with quality like this.

I've seen that Mountain man show a couple of times and I echo your remarks. They could do without the guy in NC. Seems to me to be a deadbeat not paying his property taxes? Also, the guns the kid was trying to sight in wasn't the gun he as using when the gun "mis-fired". Don't they just mean missed. That's what happens when you get someone else to do what you should do yourself. The only one I give much credit to is the guy in Alaska, but I keep reminding myself its still just a show......

Those shows are very expensive to shoot... multiple production crews, outdoor location, long filming time, etc.
To cut down on cost they shoot a lot of stock footages and then use them to fill in the story line as needed.
Stock footages could have been shot months or even years ago and they may get used over and over again as needed.

You have to remember that the show is telling a story so the actual details of alligator hunting or trapping is secondary. My wife and I like Swamp People a lot as it's not so much about the alligator hunting as it is about family story of older generation trying to raise and teach the younger generation... a classic and timeless story line. My wife and I saw Mountain man show twice and it was okay too. We liked the story about Tom and his wife trying to live out their golden age in the cold mountains of Montana.

All these recent shows about crab fishermen and gold miners in Alaska, guys that make those duck calls, etc. are all just stories... mostly about family or families. I like these shows... a lot more than sitcoms.
