6-8" here, I don't bother to measure anymore, but am spending more on pool chemicals than groceries.

Anything worth doing is worth overdoing

Hey Nacho, you need to convert to salt. I use Bay Area Pools and they installed the chlorine generator and maintain my pool for $55 per month. They even fixed a leak for free.
