Its been a long, tiring week, but things are looking relatively good. Last Saturday(while I was in the woods) my mom took a little fall. She is old and feeble, so it was kinda expected, and wasn't the first time it had happened. However, she wasn't acting right after it, and some of the symptoms had us feeling she might have had had a mini stroke or a TIA.
She refused to go to a dr. Absolutely wouldn't even think of it or consider it.. The family got together and pulled rank on her after she went to bed and called 911 and got her to hospital Sunday night. Luckily we did
They ran every test known to man kind and she did not have a stroke or any seizure. Actually brain activity is very good for a 75 year old woman.... To quote mom..."I told yall I didn't have a damn stroke"....lmao
However, she had a severe case of bronchitis that was almost into pneumonia, a kidney infection, and a foot infection, plus a thyroid that was completely out of whack. Plus she has high BP and cholesterol. Had we not got her to hospital, the infections she had would have turned septic and killed her by now
They have been pumping her full of antibiotics all week and everything is clearing up. Now they are moving her to a rehab center probably Sun/Mon for a week or 2 to get her strength back into her legs where she can somewhat get around again
When she does comes home there will be some home health care folks coming by to help out on a regular basis. But it looks like momma is gonna be ok, and will probably outlive most of us...
glad to hear all is going better, not saying the future is going to be easy. we've been going thru it with my mom for the last 9 years since my Dad died. the stress from caring for her killed my father and younger brother and she's now working on my older bro. she spent time at my house, the reason I bought this big totaly handicapped place was so she'd have a place to live when she reached this age but after 2 weeks insisted on going to her own home. one woman can care for 6 kids seemingly easy but when they get older those 6 kids have a real tough time caring for 1 old woman. best wishes to you Mom and the family.
