Just went back in the family picture albums to find the first pic of my beard, it was Thanksgiving, 1980. Shaved it off one time since then to have a full face respirator fitting, during an asbestos abatement training session. Keep it short and trim it once a week. Don't think I could stand the Duck Dynasty style, but a beard is a great place for skeeter repellant and it hides my ugly face, used to be black and now it is white. On the more serious side, the perception by others issue, can't recall any negative responses because of my beard. 1st impressions are very important, neat and clean with a beard always beats a sloppy or dirty dude without a beard!
Cr0ck1, I would venture that the economy probably has more to do with available jobs than you bidding a job wearing your beard!

if YOU think it makes a difference it likely does. if only in your own head. I believe your instincts, intuitions and gut feeling are more often accurate than logical thought.
When I grow a beard it turns gray and then when I take my boys some where.People will ask them if they are having fun with their grandpa! I told my wife I will not grow another beard again. But I have.

I went to bid on another big job from the same company. When i walked into the office every single person was clean shave. The owner and every employee. Went to the job site, same thing. I bid on another today. No beard. Actually low cut and edged nicely.
It's a policy with some companies. I remember at Terminix, men could have no facial hair other than a mustache. And it could not extend past the lip. If someone had a 1/2 day stubble they would send them home. When I left there it was like I was out of prison. I remember the owner of Terminix Intl used to put out quarterly "state of the union" type videos we had to watch. On one of them he had a beard and there was a nation wide employee revolt because of it. Lmao
Technically speaking, I am not supposed to have a beard, as I am required to wear a respirator at times. You can't get a proper seal with facial hair
