The western cougar population is expanding east as well. They've had confirmed sightings in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and reports of them in Missouri and Arkansas. Considering whitetail deer herds are larger than ever, and one of the cougar/panther's major food source, the cats may make a comeback across the country. Of course, no one gives the hunters any credit, even though we pay for the vast majority of consevation and game management in this country.
