No the wife and I are not having a baby....well, sorta we actually are.
After being a "big dog" man my entire life, I never thought I would ever take to having a small one. My dad and I raised pitts, I have had packs of deer hounds and hog dogs, and my wife and I had a lab for 14 years. When we got our Daschund almost 2 years ago, I was leery of it. Well, I absolutely love him. I used to make fun of people driving around with a kickem dog in their lap, but here I am now, every time I am in the truck, my dog is riding in my lap with his head floppin out the window barking at cars.
We sorta kicked around the idea of getting a second one, they are so much fun and so easy to care for. The breeder we bought from has been good about sendin emails when a new litter comes. The latest litter ended up being all females, and three of them are dapple colored(which is actually a rarity). Wife pushed the idea, and I told her yes. She has wanted a female, and a dapple at that.
We went this afternoon and spent about an hour and a half playing with them. We also have pick of the litter, since we are returning buyers and first to send a deposit. Looks like this little gal is the one that gets to come home. She goes for her final vet visit the Friday before Halloween, so we get her that Saturday morning
