Well back September 6th I had to take a work trip out to Oregon for 9 weeks. Long story short my company was sold and moved operations to a different facility. I finally made it back Nov. 6th. So the first time in 20 years I am jobless!! :no Thanks Obama.....
When I got home I had a honey do list a mile long, glad to be back home to the wife and kids. So with a lot of free time on my hands I start killing the honey do list. I miss all of archery and black powder season and missed the gun opener. I have been licking my chops to hit the woods.
So I start thinking this past weekend would be a great time to hit the woods and get some stand time in. Negative ghost rider, wife sets up a getaway weekend to Orlando for some mom and dad time. So it's not like I can say no I have been gone 9 weeks! So like a good husband off we go to Orlando. so I take her shopping, she is into coach and dune & Bourke hand bags so my wheels are turning I know Bass Pro shop is down the road and I need to get there. I go ahead and buy her one of each. Bam she says let’s stop at Bass Pro shop I play it cool like no it’s out this is your weekend, just laying on the butter. She said it again and the car does a U turn and back I go to BPS. She buys everything I was looking for nice!!
So Sunday half way home she said how about you head up to your property Tuesday night and get some hunting in. I am thinking sweet!!
So I will be heading out the first time this season. I am almost loaded and cannot wait to hit the woods. I have 200 acres and it has not been hunted since last time I was there back in Dec 2010 so it should be great.
Good luck, hope you make the most of it!
Looks like I might get some deer hunting in this year. My dad invited me to go up to his lease in Georgia Dec 8-11. My brother in Virginia will be coming down, and my son, who is stationed at Langley AFB on the east coast of VA is going to try to get leave so he can ride down with his uncle. Be nice to have 3 generations together enjoying the woods, and hopefully we'll get a few deer.
Git to camp around 1 today. Found the camper tarps trashed from the storms. So after a trip to the home depot for new tarps I was able to get the camper covered just in time. We had a nice thunder storm and high winds move through this evening. So no hunting today. Looks like maybe a nice morning if the wind dies down.
