I've wanted to get another jeep since I got rid of my last one 25 years ago. I've been checking out the local Craigslist ads for a little while and there are a ton of them there. I'm looking for another big boy toy and not a daily driver. Maybe use it to take the flats boat or gheenoe out or toy around town. I'm sure it will end up in the mud too. Any one got any advice on what to look for? From what I've seen I'm looking between 70 and mid 80's I think. CJ5 or something similar. Saw a jacked up one with a 'vette motor and rhino lined that looked good but not sure I need something that sucks down $4 a gallon. I don't know much about them other than I need to watch out for rust spots. I saw some with fiberglass bodies but not sure that's the way to go considering I know it will end up in the woods. I'm not ready just yet unless the right deal pops up. Kinda want to sell my Grady White first but I need to head to the Keys to get it ready for sale and just don't seem to find the time. Thanks in advance for any advice guys.

Not to rock the boat but I'm pretty sure that ain't the one for $800 even without the pics. Thanks for the link but i need more advice than anything else. Looking more for what not to get or what to look out for. When I pull the trigger it'll be turn key.

Here is a picture of my 1973 Jeep CJ5 that has had a full frame off restoration. It has a 304 V-8, T-15 3 speed transmission. Me and my daughter use it to cruise around Dunedin and Honeymoon Island. It is a horrible daily driver and is even worse for towing. The drum brakes on the older Jeeps are very weak and the steering is very loose. Fun to drive on the weekends thats all.
That's a good looking Jeep!
