I wear the astig. lens in my right eye. I shoot right handed and right eye. I sleep in my lens. I take out for 1 day at the end of the week to rest(air) the eye. I replace with the same lens for 1 more week. there is a technique you will develop over time to put in and remove the lens. Pros and cons both ways for surgery vs contact lens. try the lens way first($$$) and if your not happy go for the gusto.
I stuck my finger in my eye once with contacts. I will stick with glasses. Also if you get the surgery, it is only good for 5 - 10 years before you will be back in glasses again.
I sweat so bad, my glasses stay at the end of my nose with a puddle of water in each lens.
You can rub your eye fine, you learn a method to do it without pushing the contact out of place.
I have a problem with excess protein production in my eyes (read: sleep or "eye buggers"). I routinely have to rub my eyes and go to a mirror to pull out the strands of protein that build up around my contacts or eyelids.
I do recommend carrying glasses with you and a contact case with solution in your truck or wherever. That way if they start to bug you, you tear, lose, or scratch one you can still finish out the day without feeling drunk or cross eyed.
