well just finished opening weekend in big cypress and had a button buck and a doe and a fawn come 5 yds in front of me but thats it nothing legal to shoot
I hunted the last 2 mornings in the Cypress also. Got busted by a doe Sat. morning around 8 and saw nothing else the rest of the day. Came out early Sat. and scouted some on the way out and found a fresh rub line. Sat the rub line today and had 3 does come by about 8:30 but pay no attention to the rubs. Nothing else moving but coons.
The rubs I found were fresh. But when I checked out at Loop road Sat. there had only been 2 bucks taken and both pics they had did not show signs of being in rut. Then they showed me some 2 week old pics of a mature buck they jumped in an airboat just 20 miles from where I'm hunting and it's neck was as swollen as any I've ever seen. It was also the biggest rack I've seen down here. Something I would expect to see farther north, probably in the 120-130" range.
Sat. morning there was only 3 other trucks at the gate. This morning there was only 1 but 2 more showed up after I got in. Not sure about where you were at but the water is kinda high right now out there. I'll be back out there next weekend and probably gonna get in some afternoon hunts during the week. :rockon
