HORRIBLE December. Need to Vent.

Man ill tell you all if it wasn't for this site to calm me down and give me a laugh i think id be crazy.

So let me tell you all how my december starts.

So i get a call from a contractor that i use and he wants me to refinish an "Engineered Floor". For all of you all who done know what that is , it is a very thin layer sometimes 1/8 of an inch thick (Good) or a 1/16th wear layer (Bad). So i tell him i don't want to do it cause i can guarantee i will go through the wear layer by the fine cut. He says "Do it ill pay I've been dealing with wood for years and this and that" SO i make him sign a contract and highlight the part where it says I'm nor responsible if we wear through the wear layer.

So were working and Yes you guessed it. All was going fine, I did one pass of the final grit sand paper and right through. It was bout thin as a paper towel! So I'm calling and calling no answer this and that. So i packed up and left. After calling for hours and hours.

So i call the foreman and say well i need to get paid for the work i did $1000.00. I get eery excuse and I'm tired of it. So i just say to my wife you know what I'm not gonna get stressed I'm gonna take the loss and just move on. (Even tho my contract that he signed says i will get paid for (Work Done up until the time of Wear layer failure) which he signed and agreed to. So 3 days pass and i send him a text saying look if i don't get paid for the work don't i will take other measures to get paid. Well the phone rings right away. (4 days of no answer til now). He says look man i understand you gotta get paid but theres a problem here. So we agree to install a new floor over top of the bad floor and ill get paid for that. But i still need my 1000 bucks! So he says i don't have the money but i have another job you can do and ill pay you for it in the mean time! Then i say OK SURE! and as a thank you, Ill lower your balance from 1000 to 700 ONLY IF I GET THIS JOB AND GET PAID. So the day passes and no text with address, I never did a job.

Now I'm pissed i send him a text saying OK if i don't get paid today i will PUT A LEAN on the customers condo...!! WELL looky here the phone rings right away. He says "hey man your check has been there for a week". Im like WTF? i called you and called and no answer. I said ok ill go pick up my $1000.00 Check right now. He says no its only for 700.00 I say ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!! Thats 300 off was a thank you for a job you were gonna get me and never gave to me. Then he says "Seems like you didn't want to do it" Ok then it seems LIKE THE 300 I KNOCKED OFF AS A THANK YOU IS NOW VOID!!..

So i just hang up and go get my 700 dollar check and say hey its better then nothing. SO when i get there all the doors are locked and he's in there with some mafia hit man looking at me stupid. I said "Well first of all your messing with the wrong Sicilian cause i aint scared of your body guard. Grabbed my check and walked out.

So now Total LOSS for december $300.00

Now i get a call from a customer with an install i go and schedule it for the week after. It was bout a $2500.00 job. So I'm like cool at least i got security this month. So i get a call from another customer who needs his job done NOW cause a Mexican came in and DESTROYED it and butchered it. So i tell him "Sure ill put you in the week after the job i just scheduled". He says "No can you move your other job and put me in now and her in next week" I say "ill have to call". So i call the customer and ask if i can move her and she says yes! Not really happy but says YES!. So I'm happy i got two jobs scheduled! This guys job was like $3500.00. So i go out and buy the materials and spend like $900.00.

I get a call from him the morning to start. He says "Sorry man i got someone to do it cheaper" And I'm like "Ummm wtf?" He says sorry i can't pay you what you want when the other guy is 500 cheaper and i already lost on the first guy that came and messed it up!. So i just suck it up and call my other customer and tell her i can put her in the spot she originally had. She said "Sorry i already got someone else to do it!!

Now total loss for december
$300.00 From first job.
$900.00 IN materials from the second job.
$2,500.00 From the other lady that cancelled cause of the first guy.

So i found out who took the first job from me (a Real GOOD friend) and i call him. He says he's sorry and didn't know i bid on it and this and that. I gave him an ear full and told him i lost a ton of money over this crap. So he says well if you want I'm super busy and doing a Floor and i can pay you to help just as a motion of gratitude to say sorry bout the job he snatched. So i say sure.

On the way to the job i stop at my supplier to return the finish i had spend 900 on. Well that went sour cause he was an attitudey little girl and charged me 150 restocking fee.. REALLY.. ROBBED!!!

So i get to the job to help my friend and its 7 am and he's not there. 8 and he's not there, 9 and he's not there, 10 and he's not there. 10:30 he shows up and I'm like wtf. So we get started. I knock out a big area and then he's like man we gotta stop. Im like why? He says the other job is calling me and he's mad cause i didn't finish it cause i had to start this job!. Im like so let me get this straight. The job you stole from me is calling you cause you took on too much work. And how you gotta cut my day and pay short to go finish the job you stole from me in the first place?

So whatever. We walk out side and GUESS WHAT! He has a FLAT TIRE!! I just grin and say "Well we've been friends for a while and i got a pump and patch kit in my truck, I get down and fill and patch his tire and he jets out to the other job and i get stuck in traffic heading home for an hour.

He says well get an EARLY start tomorrow (Xmas Eve) Im like whatever. so I'm there at 7 am on XMAS EVE!!. I park and fall to sleep in my truck and 9;30 he calls and says I'm gonna be real late cause i gotta do stuff on the other job (that he stole form me) and this and that. So I'm like look bro I've been here for 2.5 hours I'm going home. So i drive back home 1 hour and now have an empty tank of gas, and a million texts how I'm an asshole friend, F me and F me and oh yea F me. This and that. REALLY!!

This guy is gotta be on coke. I wasted a tank of gas $80.00, and installed a room for him (which now I'm not getting paid for!) Then I FIXED HIS FLAT TIRE YESTERDAY SO HE CAN GET TO THE JOB HE STOLE FROM ME ON TIME!!.

NEW TOTAL I LOST THIS MONTH.$300.00 From first job.
$900.00 IN materials from the second job.
$2,500.00 From the other lady that cancelled cause of the first guy.
$80.00 In gas
$4-500 For work done from a friend i probably won't get paid for.

I sit here broke as a hostage with an empty tank pissed. Sorry had to vent! Im done with this month. I recharge the batteries and restart next year.
