I am not a duck hunter but filled it out anyway. All hunters need to stand together on issues like this
Hey guys, I know it's not fishing but I wanted to ask for your help. As you may or may not know by now, waterfowl hunters in Polk County and across the state are in a fight to maintain hunting on Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland, FL. As a result, it has been suggested and in fact requested by the Polk County Commissioners that gathering signatures in petition form in support of the United Waterfowlers-Florida proposal is necessary to show the Polk County Commissioners the public outcry to keep hunting viable.
Simply put, the proposal asks for 20 mornings of duck hunts for 13 persons that stretches over 10 weeks. That's 2 hunts a week and a total of 110 hours for the entire hunting season. We've been hunting it for several years and now the oversight board, lead by Sierra and Audubon members, want to take it away from us and keep it only for bird watchers and hikers. We think they need to share.

Whether you duck hunt or not, we all need to support this cause so that we don't lose another hunting opportunity to the anti-hunting activists. It's the same thing they are doing to the Snapper Regs in this state.
Sierra Club and Audubon Society have members on the CLASAC board that oversees this public land and have submitted a proposal to the Polk County Commission which excludes regular hunting. Please help us by supporting this cause and signing the petition. Thanks for your time and consideration.

I, the undersigned, as a citizen of Florida, request that the Polk County Commission vote to allow waterfowl hunting to continue on the Circle B Bar Reserve in accordance with the regulations set forth by the Florida Wildilfe Commission and the proposal submitted by United Waterfowlers - Florida.
Specifically, I support the addition of approximately 20 days of hunting annually to be conducted across the entirety of the 2009-2010 season and subsequent seasons thereafter, which should be conducted twice weekly on mornings only and includes a youth hunt. I ask that the Polk County Commission uphold the rights of hunters to continue the enjoyment of lawful hunting practices as has been allowed on the Circle B Bar Reserve.
