start with the cheapest and or easiest fix out of the suggestions.

This is going to be my plan of attack when I get back from hunt camp on Sunday. Luckily I took the time to find the shifter cable access panel through the firewall last night. I did confirm through some diagrams that if I remove it the CPS should be right under it on the back side of the upper bell housing. This is the cheapest route to start with, otherwise its gonna get expensive :no $$

Sure enough, I spent an hour taking the CPS out, it was a b**ch. Going through the floorboard would not work, the angle was wrong for the wrench. I had to get 2 feet of extensions and take out the bolt from underneath, going over the transmission. Once the bolt is out you have to remove the censor from the top of the engine. The only nice thing was the part only cost $35, I thought it was going to be $85+ and it only took me 20 minutes to put everything back together. Truck started right up, never sounded better. Went for a ride, no problems.

That's awesome. And you would have paid a shop $300 to install that $35 part. Nothing feels better than being able to do your own work and be sucessful at it, even if it's a pain in the rear. :toast Cheers to you brother!
