My uncle built a ramp for his neighbor. The man pushing his wife up the ramp forgot to lock the brakes and her ass went flying down the ramp. I was crying from laughing so hard :innocent

My mother-law is confined to a wheelchair now and her church donated a ramp to her front door. She refuses to go to an ALF. I don't see how she does it,but she has a lot of pride and a sorry son who won't lift a finger to help her. She's in Mo so all we can do is a little when we're there. Then my own mother fell off of a horse last summer and broke her leg and at 69 that's not good. She lives close by and is still independent and works but me or my brother are close by to help her when she needs it. I sure the hell hope my kids remember me when I'm old and not as dependent as I am now.

Nacho, thanks man..
My sister in law does the same thing you do. We made some calls to her last night and are getting the ball rolling to get mom some in home care. She has done well up until now. Has been able to sorta take care of herself and fend for herself, but yesterday she took a nose dive(No pun intended). It was a very long sleepless night for me. Had flashbacks of when my dad died.
Now I have to go sleepwalk to work :sleep

is this your house shes in or her own? is re-locating to a more handicapped accesable place a possability? wherever she ends up look for a large stall shower with grab bars ( preferably that you could fit a shower seat or wheelchair in , and grab bars around the toilet also. can she bear her own wait at all? can she transfer herself from w/c to bed/toilet un assisted? what you are planning is going to be very difficult, be patient and don't feel guilty if you can't do the impossible. careing for someone who needs full assistance is difficult for a proffesional even with all the propper equiptment, and even harder caring for a family member especialy 24/7. try and get some in home help to give you a break as needed
