I have a big heart John,I really wish I could help them somehow. I really wish Obama would get some equipment over there and get some real work done. Those poor people are digging with their bare hands. But trust me,when the dust settles,they're coming.

Biggest problem with getting equipment in is lack of infrastructure. What few airports there were that a cargo plane could land on are either tore up or there's no passable roads to the affected areas. They can't hardly land enough planes to get some troops on the ground, then when they do they have to sit around waiting for some kind of transportation to where they are needed. Haiti's always been the hell hole of the Caribbean, with the most corrupt government and poorest people. Until they can get the SeaBees in through the surf or maybe USAF Red Horse in through the air with their equipment, it's gonna be hand work with shovels and sledge hammers.

I can't see why a chinook can't move some equipment from S. Fl or a ship. There has to be some way to help them.I've seen them drive tanks off of boats to war zones.
