I make a killer compost. Ive got 4 barrels I use. Old feeder barrels the coons chewed holes in. I start off with lawn waste to fill them up to the top...it reduces in size very quickly, then go to my buddies house and get containers of horse crap and dump a whole tub full in each barrel. I have a kitchen compost container and save all our veggie scraps and coffee grounds. All that gets dumped in there. Plus all trimmings out of the garden and chicken crap/soiled bedding go in there. I try to keep them rotated and in order so I am using the oldest stuff first
The barrel I am currently adding stuff to now, you can't put your hand in it as its so danged hot.
This year I need to plant a separate garden for my chickens. They love collard greens and lettuce
I forgot to warn you about the chickens and collards. Our chicken picked every green leaf off the mustards and collards we had. We planted some in a small garden box and put it by its cage so it would stay away from our bigger plants. It didn't work. She ate the small plants and then moved on to the larger one. They'll tear up your tomatoes, melons, pretty much anything you plant...
soiling the bed? youre way too old and too young to be doing that. better get checked out, lol.
