Acquired taste just means it sucks until you do it enough to where it doesn't bother you.

The problem with Scotch is there's so many varieties depending on where it's made. Highland tastes different than Lowland and Islay and Island etc.

I like Islay's and Island's a lot but don't much care for the lowlands stuff.

As for an aquired taste, I think so. You just have to keep trying new ones until you find what you like. But quality is important too. Even mid grade stuff like Grouse is WAAAAY better than Military Special...LOL

as a kid I didn't like brussel sprouts or red cabbage, now I love them. I think a single malt tasting party should let you know which you prefer. we had a house of beer near me growing up and it took a while to go from a to z.
