I recently house sat an old friends cats when she and her hubby went to england to visit family. My friends family is from scotland, her grandfather lives in scotland still, in the town that Auchentoshan and three wood is distilled, and so they brought me a bottle as a gift for checking on the kitties. This is probably the best scotch i have ever had, and i used to be a bartender. i have had a lot of scotch From ne plus ultra, the dimple pinch, walker red black blue and gold, to the rot gut well stuff. The Auchentoshan is a lowland single malt scotch that is triple distilled, aged in American bourbon oak, and finished in oloroso and pedro ximinez sherry casks. I think it is about $60 at abc or your local liquor store if they have it. good stuff nacho and for the price it cannot be beat. the only scotch i can drink neat.
thanks for the input guys. like I said I'm not a whiskey guy but a single malt sounds better to me, if you can find the one you like best. a blended may taste good, but who knows what's in there? I could'nt see paying 180$ for a blended Johnny gold. I ended up with the 12 y/o Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban aged in bourbon bbl's and finished in sherry kegs. my bad, my house Glenmorangie is only 10 yrs old, guess they will have to gag it down or put some coke or mtn dew in it. and what exactly is crown royal a blend of?
Crown isn't scotch.
And the blended Scotch's are just mixes of single malts. Its not like they are watering it down with diet coke.
Another good one is Sheep Dip. Also, for a milder one you should try Pig's Ear.
of the little I know of whiskies, I know crown isn't scotch. I'm guessing it's a blend. but of what? rye, bourbon, what? I thought grouse was a bourbon. don't think I'd wanna drink something called sheep dip.
Looks like we got a bunch of wino's on here
